Welcome to the PADI Search and Recovery specialty course. Have you ever lost a weight belt or your sunglasses off the side off the boat? This is an excellent course to teach you many different search patterns and object lifting techniques. During the course, you will practise search patterns using a compass and mark off search areas using buoys. You will also learn to use a lift bag to bring objects to the surface.

Internationally recognized qualification: Search and Recovery

Knowledge Development: Knowledge Reviews and Classroom Presentation

Practical Application: 2 days (They do not need to be consecutive)

Number of Dives: 4 dives

 Requirements:

  • Minimum age 12 years
  • At least Advanced Open Water or equivalent
  • Medically fit
    • See medical form

The PADI Search and Recovery specialty Course consists of two phases:

  1. Knowledge Development – Classroom
  • Complete knowledge reviews and a classroom presentation on planning searches, different search patterns and lifting techniques
  1. Open Water Dives
  • 4 open water dives – practice search patterns such as the U-search pattern, Expanding Square, Circular and Jackstay, and then use a lift bag to raise an object from the sea floor to the surface
