Site Description
Typical NDL time is 18 minutes (i.e., total time on the wreck is about 12-15 mins). Divers are required to have their Advanced OW certification. As this is a deep dive, remember to check your air and NDL more often.
Descend following the line through a shoal of feeding Mackerel to the bow of this purpose sunk wreck. The wreck was donated by Inchcape Shipping Services in 2001 and is approximately 20m long and 6m wide. It rests upright sitting perfectly on its keel.
Marine life is everywhere. Beautiful yellow soft coral greets you as you reach the wreck and small colorful fish dart in and out as you swim over. Off to the side are large shoals of Snapper and along the deck are Lionfish, Scorpionfish, Kingfish, Grouper, Angelfish, Arabian Boxfish, Butterflyfish, several Giant Pufferfish, Moray Eel and several types of Nudibranch. If you are really lucky, you may find Seahorse and Frogfish. Along the sides, you will find Nudibranch and other small interesting creatures. A dive light is very helpful for this!
But the main attraction at this site is the two resident Honeycomb Moray Eels! They are usually found on the deck at the edge near the soft coral, in one of the tires attached to the side, or in the portholes.
If you have your Wreck Specialty certification and excellent buoyancy control, you can choose to enter the wreck at the start of the dive. You must have a dive light for this. Communicate and plan this with your buddy before the dive! Penetrating the wreck takes you 1-2m deeper than the deck and will reduce your overall NDL time.
Be back on the ascent line with 3-5 minutes NDL or 70 Bar, whichever comes first, complete your safety stop, and you’re back in the boat for a nice long surface interval as you travel to our next dive site!
Note: Using regular air you will typically have between 16-18 minutes of NDL on the deck of the wreck. Those with average air consumption rates will find that they will be at about 70-100 bar with 5 minutes NDL. Using Nitrox can extend your NDL time on this dive if you are good with air consumption or are on Sidemount! If you are Enriched Air specialty certified, you may request Nitrox when you pre-book.
Ask us about getting Nitrox certified! The course takes a half-day including classroom sessions and two dives. Or, complete the classroom portion online at PADI eLearning, bring us your completion certificate and do the practical hands-on session with us in 30 minutes. Pre-book with us and order your Nitrox tanks for your dives that day!
