Artificial Reef

Site Description

After descending down the anchor line to the sandy bottom you will see sets of tires and concrete domes teaming with Spotted Snapper. Locate and follow the larger rope on the seafloor for about 25m and you are taken to a small fishing boat with resident Batfish, Grouper and if you look closely, you may be lucky enough to see Nudibranch.

Continue on the line past the boat another 10m and you’ll see a large group of concrete hollow pyramids (tetrahedron) stacked on top of the other. At the top are shoals of Mackerel and Snapper. Look closely, because the Giant Pufferfish love to use these groups as cover!

As you fin over the top and look down you’ll see Trumpetfish, Grouper, Arabian Angelfish, Batfish, Parrotfish, Lionfish, Anemonefish (Clownfish), Sergeant Major, Cardinalfish, and Bannerfish swimming in and out of the structures. Work your way around the bottom edge and look for Nudibranchs, Moray Eel and Stingray!

Return to the line, complete your safety stop and back in the boat to prepare for your next dive!
