Rescue Diver

Congratulations on deciding to become a rescue diver! Thank you for choosing to dive with Sandy Beach Dive Centre. To become a PADI Rescue Diver you must complete the Emergency First Responder course or have valid EFR certificate from another organization. We run the EFR course in conjunction with the Rescue course. We offer a complimentary PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider course. This vastly benefits your ability as a rescue diver.

Internationally recognized: Rescue Diver Skills and procedures

Knowledge Development: 14 hours online learning

Practical application duration: 2 and 1/2 days


  • Minmum Age: 15 years, 12 years junior
  • Certification level: Advanced Open Water or equivalent

The PADI Rescue Diver Course consists of three phases:

1. Knowledge developement - Follow the e-learning link ------>

  • This is your online studying. This will take around 14 hours in total.
  • Emergency First Response (CPR & First Aid) – In Class Learning
  • PADI Emergency Oxygen Specialty – In Class Learning

2. Pool Sessions

  • Refresh your diving and self rescue skills
  • Practice Rescue techniques

3. Open Water Dives

  • You will apply all the knowledge and skills you have learnt in an open water environment. Learning to calm distressed diver, search for missing divers and surfacing unresponsive divers. To mention a few of the skills
  • The course is completed with a “Final Scenario”. This is “Seriously Fun”

Day 1:

9:00 – 16:00

Paperwork / EFR / Confined Water – Skills practice

Day 2:

9:00 – 16:00

Confined Water / Open Water – Skill assessment

Day 3:

09:00 – 12:30 OR 13:30 – 17:00

Open Water Scenario (Boat Dives – Meeting time is 1 hour before)
